It's been about two years that I started my journey as an entrepreneur in the virtual space. Not an easy that it was and still not an easy that it is today.
So many ideas that I had and too many bumps that I stepped on and yet I feel like I failed on this journey.
Let me share with you my journey from the very beginning. This started back in the year 2012. I was working part time and was looking for ways to make an extra income. Inexperienced that I was in taking the path of being an entrepreneur was very frightening, yet quite satisfying.
Uncertain of how I was going to start out and unsure whether I was even capable of being an entrepreneur. But rather than to wait and see. I decided to just jump in and see how the water was in this journey.
I heard about affiliate marketing and how someone can create an income out of it. Rather than to do my research completely. I just went along and jumped in head first. I bought a website from GoDaddy.com and picked a domain name without knowing what I was getting into nor understanding how to even pick a name in the cyber world.
The name that I picked was GamingEntertainment.org. Boy I definitely did not do my research first in selecting a name. The way I came up with the domain name was by my hobby in playing video games. I was a hardcore gamer and I thought that maybe owning a website that I can dedicate in my hobby would be a way to generate an extra income.
Little did I know that in owning a domain name with dot org. It meant that the website was an organization. However, Gaming Entertainment was not an organization. Instead it was just my very strong interest in video games.
This was just the beginning of an known saying, "look before you leap". A great folk saying by the way. However, I did not look before I leaped, instead I leaped before looking and seeing how to set things up.
So I bought GamingEntertainment.org and made a website out of it. After making a website, which was pretty bad if I may say so myself, I applied to become an Amazon Associate in their affiliate program.
I was approved and began searching for games in PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, and PC. Picked any random game and made a link out of it using the tools that Amazon provided with in the affiliate program.
I tried writing blogs from within the website and hoping that people would find it by using the search engines like Google, Internet Explorer, Bing, and more.
Boy was I wrong!!!!
Now I was stuck paying money on a monthly basis to GoDaddy for a website that I did not even properly setup.
As a result, I leaped in without looking first.
A big mistake indeed!
